Here is a checklist of what to do when you want to have perfect nails, do-it-yourself way.

Do you still have your old polish on?
In case you do, remove it with a non-acetone nail polish remover. Use only acetone nail polish remover when you have dark colors or those with glitter on.

Did you trim your nails?
Your nails must be of perfect length, though it is actually to your preference. After trimming your nails, be sure to fle it to remove those small jagged edges. Pushing it makes you color your nails more uniformly. You might want to cut your cuticles but this is not really necessary and it might cause infection if not properly done.

Did you apply a ridge-filler coat?
One secret of salon-made nails is this. Your nails would look flawlessly done you apply a base coat as this to the nails.

Did you apply two coats of nail polish?
The technique of the trade is to have two thin coats. When you apply it, be sure to have three swipes, one on the left, next on the right and the last is at the center. After which, let it dry before doing anything to it

Did you moisturize your skin?
Your hands tend to dry after all those chemicals. Put on your favorite hand and nail lotion to make it soft once more.

Dressing Like Blair Waldorf, Fashion Tips

Blair Waldorf, popularized by Leighton Meister in the highly popular Gossip Girl, is known for her girlish and feminine style that is significantly hers.

Leighton Meister aka Blair Waldorf

Blair’s style is polished preppy with classic touch to it. She looks a typical Upper East Side gal without a hair out of place. Her hair is medium length and she often accessorizes it with headbands. She usually lets her hair down with volume.

Here are some of the pieces you can catch Blair Waldorf in.

Feminine Touches
She is the total girly-girl. You can almost see her in laces, bows and ruffles which she incorporates even in her formal dresses.

Loungewear
Pyjamas are not in Blair Waldorf’s dictionary. When she sleeps, she wears negligee or when just about hanging around in her room, she wear satin and silk dressing gowns.

School dressing is about being classic and tailored
Since she attends an upper class school, most of her outfits have collars and ties. It is about being preppy chic. You will never catch Blair wearing jeans. It’s all about skirts, dear. The skirts with pop-of-colour tights or any accessories for that matter is what she wears to constantly update her style and be fashion forward. Aside from red, you can see her in orange and yellow shades.

Blair Waldorf likes accessories. Her signature pieces would include headbands. The headbands come in different styles, materials and sizes.

Tights are another of Blair Waldorf’s favourite fashion staple. She often appears in her signature colour: red, but sometimes she appears in every shade of every colour. In cooler months, she wears them in dark shades but in warmer months, you can see her without the tights or light shaded ones. She also loves curls but not the messy ones. It may be curly but it is polished.

Japanese Nail Art

Japanese Nails Designs

The Japanese are a quirky group of people. They love to insert fun in their lives. Same goes to their nails. Rather than having their nails in the usual one-toned colour most Western women don, they make splashes of color on their nails to make it stand out and look exciting.

Japanese nail art has been fast becoming a trend in the West. Not only they are eye-catching but also they are uniquely-designed that no two hands will be the same. Women in Japan would not only use different colors but would also put rhinestones, decals and others in detailed designs. Many represent traditional themes common to the country. Just to be different, women love putting these on.

Many women have nail jewellery. It is putting the art of nail colouring one notch higher. Art jewellery may not use real jewels per se but it will use something that would imitate the shine of real gold or diamond. They would add rhinestones and even hanging chains on their nails. It is glued to the nails. The nails can be individually designed with the same pattern as with the other nails or it can be part of the whole pattern in one hand.

3D Nails

Now that 3D has been the hype, Japanese nail art has not hesitated to jump in and join the band wagon. You can now have 3D nail art! Designs vary too- from flowers to anime characters diminutively and painstakingly done on each nails. Because of intricacy, 3D nail art is fast becoming a trend.

Another style in nail art is the addition of water bubbles on nails. This creates a rather multi-dimensional take on already fabulous nails. Water bubbles on nails are not exactly bubbles of water but there are small drops of acrylic paint with water in it. What they do is to make acrylic bubble and insert bubble inside to create the illusion of having water bubbles on one’s fingers. These are not actually applied directly to the nail but rather to a special nail, which is then glued to the natural nails.

But if the bridal gown is a full length gown then the formal style would be for a longer veil. This may be a finger tip or also known as a waist length veil that works with most wedding dresses or it may be a knee length veil or even a longer one. If she is going for a full length veil with a formal train she has to consider where the wedding is being held. Some places can’t accommodate a full length veil and train or if she does choose one it may not be stretched out to its full length and they really ruins the effect of a veil with a train.

There is also the hair ornaments under the veil to consider. If the veil is going to be removed so the hair ornaments can show or the hair style is being showcased then the veil has to be one that can easily be attached and removed after the ceremony.
